Thursday evening brought a close to the season for the Kimball girls tennis team as well as honored its four seniors: Natalie Abogado, Jasmin Khangura, Rihanna Bwata, and Sunjum Saini during the final match against Tracy High. The courts filled with emotion and pride as teammates, families, and supporters gathered to recognize the seniors and share their farewells. Rather than simply signaling the end of a season, the evening served as a moment to pause and celebrate the seniors’ final time competing on their home courts.
The night opened with a heartfelt Senior Night ceremony held before the final game began. Teammates presented the seniors with thoughtfully prepared baskets of goodies as a small but meaningful gesture of appreciation. One of the highlights of the night came with the presentation of giant tennis balls for each senior which were signed by the entire team as a final farewell to their beloved captains. The event represented the bonds formed through countless practices, matches, and shared experiences of victory and defeat.
Following the celebration, Kimball faced Tracy High in a riveting final matchup. Despite the Jaguars’ determined efforts, they were unable to take victory. Even so, the team continued to compete with intensity and unity, displaying composure and determination until the final point. A pinnacle moment in the game was Jasmin Khangura’s outstanding victory against her opponent after playing for nearly 2 hours. At the end of her amazing performance, the team ran to the court to congratulate their captain.
Although the match brought the season to a close, the outcome did little to overshadow the significance of the night. Senior Night highlighted growth, perseverance, and the collective journey of the team rather than the final result. The energy on the courts reflected a program built on effort, connection, and pride.
